California now has a total of twenty-two companies which can test autonomous vehicles on its streets and the latest entrant is Japanese company Subaru.
On February 9 the Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) of California issued Autonomous Vehicle Testing Permit. If an accident is involved the permit-holder need to inform the DMV and annual report is to be filed too outlining how many times a prototyps’s autonomous systems were activated.

Some of the existing models of Sabaru cars already have assisted driving features that is based on camera-based Eyesight system like sway warning, pre-collision braking and cruise control.
However, it is learned the auto giant is currently developing new capabilities too that is meant to be revealed soon and those include auto-start and stop in slow traffic.
By 2020 Sabaru claimes to be launching semi-autonomous driving capabilities for highest too.
