If you’re not happy with the way your life is currently, it’s time to take charge and change it. It’s not that difficult to do when you have some steps to follow:
• Understand the point of life: Don’t have regrets to look back on when you’re old. If you’re miserable in your job now, it’s time to start changing things.
• Visualize your dream: Instead of spending time griping about your awful boss, long commute and nasty co-workers, spend just 5 minutes daily visualizing your perfect dream job and focus your energy on how to make that happen.
• Find your passion: The most successful people love their careers. That’s because they figured out what their passion is and went after it. Pay attention to what gets your heart racing. Stop focusing on your skills and resume and focus on what you truly love and want to be doing.
• Let go of your fear: Your fear of change and failure is what holds you back the most in getting the career you want. Yes, the unknown can be scary but you’ll never know what could have been unless you face your fear and take a leap of faith. Go into your venture with confidence but also with your eyes open and a plan to keep you from failing.
• Live in reality: You’re not going to be able to launch your business overnight. It’s going to take plenty of time and effort to get things up and running. Just remember that if you’re serious about having the life you want, any sacrifices are worth it.
• Gather information: Change is a lot scarier when you don’t have the right information. That’s why you need to do your research through the library, associations, taking classes, reading trade publications, and talking to other business people.
• Prepare: A good description of a goal is a dream with a deadline. Write a target date on your calendar for when your new life will begin. This is a great way to stay motivated and build a realistic plan.
• Gain support: Pessimism is just as contagious as enthusiasm. That’s why you want to stay away from negative people and gather positive, supportive people around you.
• Get started: Start working on your goal in small steps. It makes things more manageable and keeps you from getting overwhelmed.
• Be grateful: Be happy and grateful that you live in a time when it’s possible to change your life for the better.
