BREAKING: Last Man To Walk On Moon Dies [R.I.P.]

The last man to walk on moon is no more with us. He took his last breath today. The US astronaut Gene Cernan was 82.

The commander of the final Apollo lunar landing mission in 1972 is widely titled as “last man on the moon.”

Cernan’s death is confirmed by NASA on the official website and its social media channels. The announcement added the commander was surrounded by family at the time of death.

NASA didn’t state the cause of Cernan’s death, but in recent months he was ill.

The space agency wrote, “We are saddened by the loss of retired NASA astronaut Gene Cernan, the last man to walk on the moon.”

Born on 14 March 1934 as Eugene Andrew “Gene” Cernan the American astronaut, naval aviator, electrical engineer, aeronautical engineer, and fighter pilot traveled into space thrice in 1966, 1969 and 1972 as Pilot of Gemini 9A, Lunar Module Pilot of Apollo 10 and Commander of Apollo 17 respectively.

Cernan was the 11th man to walk on moon and the most recent one too.
