Google may be thinking and re-thinking these days, even after more than year of launching, why YouTube viewers in United States, Mexico, Australia and New Zealand are not subscribing to the paid version of the streaming platform, the YouTube Red. Is it people are less interested to opt out advertisements from the videos or are looking ahead to get some exclusive and premium content that could justify the money paid, $9.99-a-month.

It is not rational that users don’t want to opt out the ads from videos as Netflix has around 47 million paying subscribers in the US alone and globally 86 million people was streaming videos on the platform by paying a monthly subscription.

YouTube Red currently has just 1.5 million paying subscribers and the data is until the finish of summer 2016. Added to it, the platform has 1 million more subscribers who have signed up for the trial period and are yet to pay the monthly fee.

Experts believe users watching free content don’t want to watch the same under paid banner. They might be looking for some exclusive content for the money spent as a monthly subscription.

Meanwhile, it is important to know twenty Red Original series and movies are coming up for the paid platform by the end of this year. Two of the series are produced by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and “Edge of Tomorrow” director Doug Liman.

While taking any sensitive move Google need to understand the business and offer modules of rivals Netflix, Hulu and Amzaon Prime too. They are investing heavily on content part.
