Here comes the first truly major update to the camera with promises from Apple the photo quality would be beyond incremental annual changes in terms of image stabilization and flash.

The new capabilities are embedded in the iPhone 7 Plus, which comes with two-camera-module implementations that is a kind of computational photography by using in-device algorithms and would not be easily possible with a single sensor and lens.

The new camera technology is used to automatic panorama stitching and multi-shot capabilities like auto HDR.

One camera is 12-megapixel with a 28mm f1.8 lens and the other is 12-megapixel with a 56mm f2.8 lens.

Apple said the camera with 56mm lens is “telephoto” even though it is known truth around 70mm or longer is considered as telephoto. Whatever be the controversy, the 56mm is a good length for mobile camera.

In terms of optical zoom the iDevice this time worded as “optical zoom at 2x” instead of “2x optical zoom” and this is something really confusing.

There are lot of important stuff in the camera apps in iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus that we still don’t know like the 56mm module uses a smaller sensor. Let’s wait for some more days to know better what Apple really has in store.
